“Evolution of Army Diving”
As 2008 came to a close and 2009 stands in the door, we are on the brink of the largest US Army Divers Association Reunion yet! It is time to start registering!
This year’s reunion will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, in Williamsburg, VA. To register for your room online click on the Crowne Plaza Hotel link or make your reservations over the phone by calling 1-888-233-9527. Make sure you mention the USADA Reunion when making your reservation. As USADA members we have a guaranteed rate of $119.00 plus tax per night.
THURSDAY, APRIL 30TH
The reunion festivities kick off Thursday, April 30th at 8a.m, with the Army Dive Company at Ft. Eustis hosting MK V dives. All are welcome to join in the fun, suit up and get your picture taken! After the dives, join the active dive teams for a “Burger Burn” ($5.00) at the Detachment. During the “Burger Burn”, “Frenchie” Leville will present a slide show entitled “The History of Army Diving”. The active divers will display all the modern dive equipment and toys used by today’s divers. Join us Thursday night for a 3 hour schooner cruise of the York River. Dinner and drinks are included; however we have limited room, so get your registration in soon!
FRIDAY, MAY 1ST
Friday morning, CPT Charles Denike will host the always brutal and intense Army Dive Company Commander’s Challenge. Retirees are invited to come along for the ride and cheer on these “Deep-Sea Studs!” The challenge will run approximately from 5a.m until noon. Following, the Commander’s and 1SG’s will host a cook out at the detachment. Friday night’s place of duty will be the Crowne Plaza. The Social is an informal event, with kegs of beer, light appetizers, and tall tales of the deep. It is the perfect time to catch up with old buddies and make new ones! During the Social we will have the 2nd Diver’s Auction. Diver and professional Auctioneer Dave Schall will be auctioning one of a kind diver paraphernalia. If you have any items you would like to donate for auction please contact me directly!
SATURDAY, MAY 2ND
Get your team together for the Saturday morning golf tournament! Uniforms are not required, but strongly encouraged! Your place of duty Saturday night is once again the Crowne Plaza for the Dinning Out. So, get yourself cleaned up, buy your wife a new dress and get ready for a great time! *Note for all active duty personnel: Dress Greens and Blues are the only authorized uniform for this event. *Note for all members of 7th, 74th, 511th, 544th and 569th EN TM’s (DIVE): The Crowne Plaza Hotel is your appointed place of duty from 1830 – 2200 hrs Saturday, May 2nd, 2009.
SUNDAY, MAY 3RD
Sunday morning we will meet for our annual membership meeting and breakfast. Come cast your vote for your board members and voice your opinion on all matters pertaining to the US Army Diver’s Association and Reunions.
This is going to be the largest gathering of active duty divers in years. We are expecting at least 100 active divers to be in attendance. It would be great to see just as many non-active and retired divers. Side note: These reunions are run 100% off donations and your registrations. The earlier your registration fees are received, the nicer the reunion will be. We can anticipate and predict numbers of attendees until we are blue in the face however we can’t bank on anything until you’ve registered, so please register soon! If any of you are interested in corporate sponsorship, monetary donations, raffle / auction donations, would like to participate in the events on Ft.
